Mosi Audio — Setup Guide

🚀 Quick Start

Open Your Terminal

On Mac, press ⌘ + Space and type Terminal.

Navigate to the PineTone folder

Type the following and press Enter:

cd ~/path/to/mosi-pinetone

Start the local server

Run this single command (requires Python 3, installed by default on Mac):

python3 -m http.server 8000

Open in your browser

Visit this URL in Chrome or Safari:

http://localhost:8000/keys.htm
→ Launch PineTone Now
Tip: Keep the terminal window open while using PineTone. Closing it stops the server.

🎹 Using the Keyboard

Select a Layout

Choose 12-Tone Circles for the modern PineTone experience, or Classic Terpstra Hexagons for the original layout.

Pick an Instrument

Choose from Grand Piano, Electric Rhodes, Church Organ, Strings, Choir, and more.

Launch the Experience

Click Launch Experience. The keyboard fills your screen — click or touch the keys to play notes.

Go back to settings

Click the blue arrow button in the top-left corner at any time to return to settings.

⌨️ Controls & Shortcuts

Click / Touch Play a note Hold + drag Slide across keys (glissando) Space Octave roll — triggers a descending 4-octave cascade on held notes Scroll wheel Zoom in / out on the keyboard grid

⚙️ Advanced Customization

Expand the Advanced Customization section on the settings page to access:

Horizontal Step Number of scale steps per horizontal key Vertical Step Number of scale steps per vertical key Frequency Definition Enter a Scala (.scl) file to define custom tunings Note Labels Rename each degree of your scale Color Pattern Hex color codes (one per line) for each degree
